Website Making Resource Connections in USA and Abroad

June 1999 – Over 1000 visitors have stopped by nycrc.org since the website opening earlier this year. They have come from all over North America and the world. "We understood that we needed a presence in cyberspace," relates director Jim Esposito, "but we never realized that our site would actually be an interactive ministry component that would bless people throughout the U.S. and other places across the planet."

Although the site (to date) has only averaged around twelve "hits" a day – there have been contacts from most of the fifty states, six of the seven continents and even one visitor claiming to be from Mars – although his email address betrayed his claim. Esposito continues, "Our mission to bring effective resources to communities has expanded far beyond the state line. We’ve been ‘matching’ needs to suppliers for years – but never on such a global scale!"

Here are some of the highlights of the NYCRC site since going on line…

  • Inspired by the NYCRC concept, a minister from Gennevilliers, France is sponsoring a version of "Loaves & Fishes" to network the Christian ministries there.
  • A runner from Germany was able to register to participate in this year’s NYC marathon.
  • A graduate student from Tennessee was able to connect with new Christian friends and find affordable housing while he interns at a major company in the Financial District.
  • Several prayer requests seeking spiritual comfort in times of crisis are forwarded weekly to the Intercessory Prayer Group. "And we keep praying until there’s an answer" states one intercessor.
  • The Book of Hope (a condensed pocket version of The Book) is now being distributed at one large corporation at the World Trade Center through a Christian Club.
  • One Brooklyn community is planning a massive outreach using "The Book of Hope"
  • Many individuals and agencies have been connected to other individuals and programs that have greatly enhanced their ministries around the Metro area and across America.
  • Volunteer missionaries are coming to the city to serve in various compassionate outreaches.
  • Intercessors from around the world are praying for NYCRC activities…especially the children’s programs
  • Several job seekers are being placed with potential employers – one woman found a job as Executive Director at a Crisis Pregnancy Center!

According to the French minister, "I am glad to have the opportunity to come to New York and meet new associates by the Internet. My time spent with you has been most profitable. You are a blessing indeed!" It seems NYCRC has found "it’s place in the world" wide web!
